Egg Drop 2014

Students in Mr. Colbert's Science classes competed in the annual egg drop competition in which students were assigned to design a container to protect an egg from breaking when dropped on concrete. Students were scored on survival and distance to a target on the ground. Congratulations to the 2014 Egg Drop Champion Katlyn D!

Tissue Engineering Summer Camp

The Swanson School of Engineering's Department of Bioengineering invites students to participate in a tissue engineering camp with camp headquarters at the University of Pittsburgh Center for Biotechnology and Bioengineering.

Middle school students can participate in a one-week summer camp unlike no other – one that submerses them in bioengineering and regenerative medicine. The cam utilizes regenerative aspects of the natural world – such as starfish repairing injured arms and reptiles regrowing severed tails – to explore how these regenerative traits could be translated to human medicine and treatment. The camp is
designed to not only expose these students to science, but show them that STEM can be fun, exciting, and ultimately something that they could pursue as a career.

Camps are held from 8:30 am - 4:30 pm and lunch is provided. The Center for Biotechnology and Bioengineering is located off Second Avenue at 300 Technology Drive, Pittsburgh. CLICK HERE for more information.
